I did not fit in a visit with Borat this weekend. This was the only downside of my weekend. Late Friday night while I got a random text message from Mike Brundage telling me he was in SD for the Browns/Chargers game. I ended up hanging with him Saturday night for a bit at the Field. He was feeling a bit flu like, so he turned in early to get some rest for the game. Awhile back I had considered going to the game myself, but we decided to head down to Mexico on Sunday for some cheap lobster with some friends.

Tonight after my city rec league basketball game, I’m going to go see Minus the Bear. I caught them earlier this year before I knew much about them, and they blew me away. They are one of those bands that I’m not always a huge fan of on CD, but a must in the live form. Catch them if you get a chance.

Hey Mike, Dad said you're going to open for the New York Dolls? How did that happen? And I noticed you got to play with the Cold War Kids at Howards, how did that show go?

How we manage to land a show with The New York Dolls?

    We're insanely lucky!

Blaine put us into some online entry form and apparently someone liked us and picked us to be a finalist. From there it was internet voting.

I don't remember how it was playing with the Cold War Kids. When was that?

Oh, that was Oct 22. That show was awesome! It also sucked, because i think that night Taking On Explosives (who does most/all of the booking) decided to load the show up with like 5-6 bands. That's NEVER cool.

Yeah Mike, I hate those 5 or 6 band shows. The show I went to last night had 4 bands, and that was bad enough. I was just courious about Cold War Kids because they seem to be a big indie blog buzz band right now. At first I was not into them, but they are starting to grow on me a bit. But with so many bands that night, maybe you don't remember.

Get ready for the grossest 5 minutes of your life in Borat! But I'm sure you already know.

I'm talking about the church scene, of course.

    Get out the vote!
