More Than A Porpoise, More Than A Man, A Manimal

I want a Porpoise who will laugh for no one else

Happy Good Friday to one and all. Today I am reminded of Good Friday 1995 (I believe). I was a sophomore at the fabled BGSU. The night before I had ventured to Norwalk, Ohio with many friends to see the Prayer Chain/SF59 show. I some how pulled myself out of bed that Friday morning to get to a few classes, then went to the weekly TGIF meeting for Crusade with Larson. Larson and I found ourselves in a very cynical state of mind that day, and for whatever reason, sat in the way back and laughed to ourselves for the whole hour, getting pretty slap happy. We chilled for the afternoon and Lars and I (can’t remember who else) decided to go up to Livonia and follow the Prayer Chain/SF59 tour to it’s next venue. Those two bands are classic, and I’m glad I got to see them two nights in a row. Anyway, whenever I find myself waking to another Good Friday, I always think of those few days in 1995. And when I really think about it, it’s prolly the last year in my life that I was still young and free from most of what the real world does to you. As I may have mentioned in the past, that sophomore year of college is usually what I think of as the best year of my life, although this past year or two moving out west comes pretty close, who’s to say?

Because my job is on a contract basis right now, I am paid hourly. I took this past Monday off to visit my up north with fam. So I’ve been trying to make up those lost hours this week by working 4 ten hour days. This plan has not gone so well. Tuesday I only got 9 hours in because our other car broke down and I had to leave early to “rescue” Tracey. Basically, I’m exhausted and worn out from trying to make up these lost hours. Money just isn’t worth the sacrifice sometimes. Last night Tracey made shish kabobs which were amazing. And I watched a great baseball game (on TV), the home opener of the Padres in their new stadium. They blew a lead in the 9th inning, came back to tie it in the bottom of the ninth, gave up the lead again in the 10th, but scored twice in the bottom of the tenth to win it. The place was going crazy, it felt good to watch. Reminds of the Indians when they opened the Jake. The stadium looks amazing and fun, can’t wait to see a game there, we’re planning to in a few weeks. One of our friends out here is a huge Mets fan and the Mets are in town at the end of April. All the businesses around the new park have been reporting their sales have tripled, the stadium is a great thing for downtown SD. I hope the team does well, it makes people happy, but I don’t care too much.
