More Than A Porpoise, More Than A Man, A Manimal

I want a Porpoise who will laugh for no one else

It has been awhile, so I welcome myself back to my blog. Quite a bit has happened since we last spoke. This past weekend was a very good one, being that it was a three day weekend. I have watched a lot of rented movies over the last five days. Friday night I watched XXX with Vin Diesel and it pretty much sucked. I really like Vin, and he had some funny lines in the movie, but it was not very good at all. Tracey and I then watched About a Boy with Hugh Grant and it was pretty good. I think Hugh is funny, even though he basically plays the same role over and over again. Saturday Tracey and I went hiking in the desert at some Oasis. You hike for a few miles, then in the middle of some ravine, there is like palm trees and water falls, it was cool. It took two hours to drive to it, but it was worth it. It sure beat sitting at home on my arse in 1 degree weather like people in Ohio had to. Sunday we went to a church that was not that good. This guy tried to link screen writing and the idea of the hero into God, and it didn’t turn out very well.

We watched a lot of other movies as well, but I don’t remember which days, so I will just recap. We watched Blue Crush, which was not bad but not good. We also watched the Good Girl with Jennifer Anniston and that sucked, although Anniston was not bad. Although there was this funny part with a security guard at the grocery store where Anniston worked at. The security guard was played by the guy in Orange County who played the English teacher (a small part, if you remember it) and he was a Christian, and he asked Anniston to go to a Bible study. Anniston said no and that she liked her evenings alone. So the security guard guy tells her that she will have plenty of time alone when she is rotting in Hell, then he tells her, “just kidding”. It was funny if you saw it. John C. Reily is in it too and he is good as always. I also watched the first two episodes of the Band Of Brothers HBO series and it was pretty good.

All the movie watching was fun, but the best part of the weekend was that Tracey and I finally bought a surf board. I also got a wetsuit and we got a roof rack for our car to carry the board. I now feel like a true Californian. Tracey and I are going to share this first board to learn, then eventually we will get another board, a smaller one. We were told to buy a long board since we are beginners, so we got a 9ft one. We are very “stoked” about this purchase. We might take some surfing lessons this weekend, then Larson is coming down in 3 weeks from San Fran to visit and we will certainly do some surfing together.

My parents are still Africa and doing well. Lord bring them home safe. This weekend the superbowl is in SD, and Raider fan is everywhere going crazy. There is like 100,000 extra people in town this week. I hope there are some good commercials this year.
