2003-My Year in Review

I’m going to do this thing by month and briefly summarize the important happenings of the year. It was fun to read through all my old blogs for the year and see what happened. Some things I forgot, some seem like they just happened yesterday. I would say overall, it was a solid year, besides losing my job, but let’s not jump to any highlights yet, enjoy.

January-I started the new year off in solid fashion by eating some amazing enchiladas that my Mom made for a new years day dinner. I celebrated my 5 year anniversary of marriage, which is crazy to think about in itself. Ohio State won the national championship, but I didn’t get to watch the game because I was on a plane flying back from Ohio, but at least they won. Tracey got me a surf board and wetsuit for my birthday (my 28th) which was amazing. January 25 was one of the worst days of my life, I watched the movie Chicago, hate it, sorry.

February-Larson came down to visit us in SD from SF. Had a great few days, surfed, stogied, ate at the Field, saw Cheese(Switch)foot and surfed some more. I got my new IMAC (thanks to my Dad) and that was solid. Valentine’s Day weekend Tracey and I went up to SF to visit Lars and the Andy’s and had one of the best weekends of out life. It was our first visit to SF, and hanging with those guys was epic, as I said, those memories will last me forever.

March-In march I was having a few stressful weeks of work. Tracey kidnapped me and took me up to Encinitas for the weekend to just relax and get away, another great time. Lar’s car got stolen. I saw the movie City of God, prolly my top movie of the year. At the end of March, Tracey and I saw Cush live, a great time, then Lars and the Andy’s (and Michele I think, weirdly enough) came down to SD to hang. We camped at Joshua Tree National Park, surfed, ate, laughed, had a great time. I think they ended up stayin for a week or so, I think, it’s hazy at this point, a great time nonetheless.

April-Nothin too significant happened, if you can think of something, besides my Mom’s birthday, let me know.

May-One of the weekends in May we went up and visited Mary and Case for the first time, got some Sonic and chilled. Dad got his Land Rover and I saw the Flaming Lips live, one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen.

June-I saw Alkaline Trio, solid. The Astros no-hit the Yankees. Ryan and Michele came out to visit and were denied by Bob again. We found out condo. Tracey left me for two weeks between June and July to see her family.

July-I went up to LA for the 4th weekend and visited my friend Rob, saw Koufax. Later in the month I saw Reggie and the Full Effect, good time.

August-In August we finally closed on our condo, which was a great blessing. We went on vacation, just the two of us, for the first time in a long time. We drove up the coast of Cali, great time, very relaxing, and a bit of hard work cause we camped most of the way, but glad we did it. El Brundage came out to visit. Tracey and I got to see the Lassie Foundation, so good. And Heidi and Ken came out to visit and we had a great time with them.

September-A sad month in parts. 9/11 anniversary, the deaths of Johnny Cash, Warren Zevon and John Ritter. But on a high note, Hannah was born. And at the end of the month I flew back to BG for Jeb’s wedding, craziness ensued.

October-Mare and Case came down to visit us. We were having a good time till the big fires out here flared up and sent them home early. We went back to Ohio for Kevin and Emily’s wedding in Dayton. That was a lot of fun and we got to see Hannah for the first time.

November-Well, this is the month I got laid off, bastard Scantron. But the stories not over, so I move on. On a better note, my whole family came to SD for Thanksgiving. Although we were in tight quarters and many of us not feeling well, we had a good time, highlighted by the amazing sun set God gave us for the little ceremony we gave my parents for their 30th anniversary.

December-We got Saddam! I’ve just been looking for a job, playin lots of bball and working out and sleeping more.

I’m looking for bigger things in 04, like a great job.
