More Than A Porpoise, More Than A Man, A Manimal

I want a Porpoise who will laugh for no one else

I am in the middle of a long week of work. After Friday I will be at peace. I don’t have much time to write, so here are the highlights of the last few days:

Friday night Tracey and I saw Bend it Like Beckham, it gets a C-, sorry Dad, I just thought it was trying to be My Big Fat Greek Wedding but failed. But I knew you would like the music, and I liked the accents.

Saturday watched the Final Four, which was disappointing. I have to say, in my bitterness at Texas losing, I need to vent on the Syracuse zone. If a team can’t man up on defense and play man to man, at least some of the time, then they are weak. It’s not entertaining to watch a bunch of orange just packed into the lane, boring. Those guys are all good athletes, they don’t need to play that weak crap, look at Kentucky, now they played some defense. In the end, at least Duke was not in the Final Four.

Sunday I worked a half day then went and saw Spun by myself. Well, Swartzman is far away from Rushmore days now for sure. I can’t go into details, but he is no longer an innocent kid anymore, that’s for sure. He was good, acting wise, but the movie was missed the mark a bit. It was funny in parts, very disturbing in others. Don’t think I would recommend it for anyone, especially if you are thinking of a Rushmore like performance.

Last night, by chance, I saw the Folksman play on Letterman. They are one of the mock folk groups from the upcoming A Mighty Wind movie. The Folksman include Christopher Guest and they were really good. They played all their instruments and sang life, very funny. I think the even funnier thing was how many people watching prolly had no idea who they were or what it was about, dummys. AMW opens next Wednesday here in SD and we are planning on seeing it.

Thanks for the Decemberist plea Justin, but with Tracey’s parents here I don’t think it will happen. It will be enough for me to sneak off to see Bettie on Sunday.

BG people don’t miss Koufax April 16 (I think) at Howards.

Hope everyone is doing well, I will leave you with some Joe Jackson:

We’ll leave the TV and Radio behind
Don’t you wonder what we’ll find
Stepping out tonight”
