More Than A Porpoise, More Than A Man, A Manimal

I want a Porpoise who will laugh for no one else

Today is a beautiful day in SD. The sun is out in full force and I feel good. On good days likd today when there is not much cloud cover, we can see the ocean from our apartment window, it is an awsome sight. I am about the go and play some b-ball with my friend donkey boy up in La Jolla. If you don't know why he is called donkey boy, you need to know, another funny story, and it's not what you think you perv. I have not gottne to do much exercise since I got here, except for a few small hiking trips Tracey and I did at a state park here (once with my parents as well). And I played some ball with El Brundage when he was out here, but thats about it. I'm fat, at least by my standards, so I need to get out more and work out. I keep thinking about getting a membership to a fitness club this winter when the weather is not as good, except the weather is always good, so not sure what I;m gonna do. Anyway, gonna jet now. Have a good weekend. Oh, and thanks goes out to the Angels for coming back and beating those hated Yankees. The day the Yankees go away is one step closer to a better world.

What's the word peeps? Midtown rocked last night, although the sound was not that good and they couldn’t really sing that well live, that darn studio making the band sound better than they are. In retrospect, last night I realized that I was standing at a show, by myself, surrounded by mostly teenagers, like 400 of them. And I thought, wow, I’m 27, at some punk show, do I belong here? Then I thought, well, if I had a friend with me to rock out with, it would not have been so bad. It was just weird. The last few years I have gone to a ton of good rock/indie shows around Ohio, and it was no big deal cause I always had peeps to go with. If nothing else I always knew Jenkins was going, he was always up for shows, no matter what. I guess I just felt out of place and old, which I am. But screw it, I had fun anyway.

Today our new furniture arrives, which is a pretty adult thing to have happen to you. We have never really been able to afford new furniture, so it is exciting. We always looked for couches on the side of the road or got free ones from friends. Speaking of which, that reminds of a funny story about our old couch in BG. It was given to us by our good friends Chelsea and Connel. They got the couch from the infamous Pastor Pitts in Toledo because they used to be in with him, whatever that means. Needless to say, many jokes were made about that couch.

Have a good weekend everybody (the 3 of you who read this). And check out Larson’s blog page, very funny recent entry. I think he knows it is time to move on. Late

Well, tonight I get to go see Midtown, very psyched about that. Recover and Taking Back Sunday are also playing, but I'm not really into them, so I'll probably go late. I have a medium size zit on the side of my nose today, that sucks. You'd think by age 27 you would be done dealing with that stuff. Good thing I can overcompensate for that flaw with my large biceps, oh wait, I don't have large biceps. Tracey and I actually have a free weekend coming up. Unfortunately I will probably put in some more hours at my job since I will be not work as much next week when my brother Justin comes into town. My sister and her husband might come down next weekend as well, which would rock. For those of you in BG, and who know Marshall, ask him how my job is going. And I will leave you with a quote from a dear friend of mine, "I don't like chicks with dogs" and listen to Jim Rome, if you don't, your blowin it dude.

It is cloudy again today, and that sucks. It was actually sprinkling rain when I woke up this morning, oh well, from now on I was swear to never complain about the weather of SoCal. As I was riding on the bus this morning to work, I had the thought of how cruel it is that we work most of our life, a slave to the “Man” if you will, and then when we retire, if we have any money left at all, then we are too old to really be free to enjoy it and travel and do athletic things. This seems pointless and stupid. But I guess this is just the way things are right? Or can I do something about it? I wish I could, like become really rich or something and really enjoy and see this world. But that’s not really in the cards I guess. Probably when I have kids I will live for something else besides pleasing myself, I sure hope so. There is a song by a group called Piebald, and they sing about how there should be 2 days of work and 5 days of weekend, that sounds good to me, more time to relax and get rid of stress.

As I have mentioned, my brother Justin is flying in next Wednesday, hopefully he will wait to see Red Dragon and see it with me next week. I think finally tonight I will have some time to watch some of my new Swingers DVD with the special features, it has just been too crazy out here, but I cannot believe it is October already.

I want to send some Jungle Karma to the boys in BG who have a softball game tonight. Good luck guys and try not to pop up too much. For those of you who are ignorant of the Jungle Karma, you are sorely lacking. You need to check out Jim Rome, the greatest sports personality in the world. In fact, he is coming on the radio here in ten minutes so I gotta jet, but check him out, he is epic.

Lastly, I have to agree with Lars, The Real World on MTV does suck D. Check out Lars at http://cushman.blogspot.com/ and check out my brother at www.pseudobook.com/expression as well as www.pseudobook.com

Later days, Marr

Whats up all? It is Monday again and Harr finally emailed me, nice job. I had a great weekend with my parents in town. We saw lots of sights and ate too much good food. We discovered this great indie record store called lou's records up in Encinitas, CA. I picked up the new Matt Skiba (lead singer of Alkaline Trio) split, accoustic cd with Kevin Seconds. I love everthing Skiba does, amazing. I also found Spiritualized "Let it come down" special packaged cd for only 12$, and the night before it was 23$ in Borders, so I'm glad I waited. I also picked up a cd from a new sweedish band called Division of Laura Lee, pretty good, dirty rock, like the Hives or White Stripes. They are on tour with International Noise Conspiracy in a few weeks here in SD, but don't think Im gonna hit that, too many shows coming up. Actually, tonight I want go see the Huntingtons at Point Loma Nazarene College, but I'm too tired after the long weekend with my parents. But this thursday I get to see Midtown, so I'm pumped bout that, except I have to go by myself, since Tracey is not really into them. So yeah, somebody I know from BG who is into the same music needs to move out here so I have someone to go to shows with, hurry up! Although next month Tracey is going to Saves the Day with me, since we are both into them, so that will be cool. I'm not really a fan, but the Chargers are 4-0, so its nice to be in a football town with a good team. Next week my bro Justin is coming in for 5 days, so the hotel Edwards continues, and Lars was supposed to come, but he has to save some $$$ since his rent is so high at his parent's basement, speaking of, cmon dude, suck it up and move out here so I have a surfing partner as well as a show partner, you can substitute teach for awhile and make $100 a day and crash with us for a bit! Anyway, yesterday was a perfect day, sunny and warm, today is cloudy though, but hey, a Monday in SD is better than a friday anywhere else! except heaven. Have a great day, if you can. Marr, out.
