More Than A Porpoise, More Than A Man, A Manimal

I want a Porpoise who will laugh for no one else

So, I got the job at Wells Fargo. Tentatively I will start July 12. The most important aspect of this event is that I get to keep buying music at a dangerous clip. Mike and his friends are here and catching up on sleep. We went to Hodads last night and took in the usual fare of hippies and bums in OB, as well as the surfer “brahs”. We watched most of Spartan, which was really good, but around 11pm I looked over and both Mike and Dan were asleep, so I stopped it and got the pull out couch ready for them to sleep. The boys plan to do some Frisbee golf today if they can find a place and not sure what’s going on tonight, maybe a Padres game. SD also had an earthquake yesterday. I was driving home and didn’t feel it, but apparently you could if you were in a building. So, this will be it until I get back from Ohio. Sorry I’ll miss you Kim, was Mary in your grade? I can’t even remember, shouldn’t she be at this reunion? Who knows, maybe I’ll run into you Saturday night. Later everyone.

Notice in this story the “jerk” is a “former youth minister”.

Tracey is gone this morning and I’m a bachelor for 3 weeks. I will bide my time getting tons of small things I’ve needed to get done and get back to playing guitar more. Or I’ll just watch more tv, not sure yet. Tracey and I went out to the Field last night for dinner and it was good as usual. They had some soccer game on and all these Irish looking young guys were in there yelling at the tv drinking their Guinness, it was a fun sight and made me wish I was really in Ireland.

Mike and his friends will be here this afternoon. It’s going to be at least another week until I get some sleep. I got up at five yesterday because of my interview (I still had to work my 8 hours at my job), got up at 5am today to take Tracey to the airport. I’m sure I’ll be up late tonight with Mike, et al. Then up again at 5am on Thursday to fly back to Ohio myself, then the crazy weekend. Anyway, I’d always rather be tired and busy with fun stuff than bored and tired because I got too much sleep. As for my interview yesterday, it went really well. They said they will make a decision in the next few days. I’m going to pick up the new Beastie Boys and Killers cds today at lunch. I’ll prolly grab some Jamba Juice while I’m out. And now Yahoo has given me 100megabytes of email storage, for free. I used to have 4, so this is cool. I had read about how Google was going to offer a free 100 megs of email, and that Yahoo was going to counter, so I have to say I’m a fan of competition. What will I do with 100megs? Not delete a message ever again I guess. For late night tv watchers, tonight is a good night. Beastie Boys on Letterman, the Killers on Jimmy Kimmel and Franz Ferdinand are on Conan. I think I’ll get one more blog in before BG.

I still get amazed at how fast time flies. When I’m anticipating a big event or fun time, especially something that is months away, I always remember a particular moment when I tell myself, “before I know it, that moment will arrive, and I’ll be surprised that it’s already here”. And here I am, the week of Larson’s wedding, hard to believe. Upon my arrival in Ohio this Thursday, I will be in a daze, a feeling of amazement that it’s actually happening. I’m truly looking forward to the entire trip and I know good times are ahead. Tracey leaves tomorrow for her annual 3 week trek to Cincinnati. I will miss her obviously, but I’m glad she gets to do this every year. It’s the least I could allow her to do after I dragger her away from Ohio kicking and screaming :). Mary left Saturday morning and we had a great time with her. Our day by day events are better chronicled by Tracey. We did end up seeing Saved! on Friday night and we all really liked it. Although I only went to a Christian high school for one year, I could still relate to the characters. Although I didn’t agree with everything in the movie, I thought overall it was very sincere and ultimately showed what Jesus is really about, unconditional love. I think we (and a few dudes behind us) laughed the most. It was very well acted and my favorite character was Pastor Skip. I think it’s funny when middle aged white pastors get earrings and use words like Phat and Dude. Moving on…

I have an interview this morning with Wells Fargo Bank. I had that phone interview on Friday, and at the time I blogged about it, I didn’t know it was with Wells Fargo, but that’s a good thing. Anyway, the phone interview went really well and they wanted me to come in as soon as I could to meet face to face. The job would be documenting loan procedures for mortgages. You may be jumping around at how exciting that sounds, but I’m not. It sounds really boring, but I’ll reserve judgment until after the interview. It would be another change of industry for me, which is cool I guess. I’ve mostly worked in the software industry (and biotech right now), so a change of pace would be nice, now that I think about it. Software is so fast paced and stressful, something new might be good for me. I am getting tired of these interviews, so hopefully this all ends soon. My current job is getting out of hand and crushing me with work. This break I have for Lars will be nice, although I don’t really plan to get much sleep. I’ll blog sometime before I leave this week, let you know how the interview went, but otherwise, we’re super busy getting ready for out trips, plus Mike is supposed to be here Tuesday I think. He wanted to come today, but we just couldn’t do it, too much going on with trips, packing and whatnot. Hope Mary and Casey and Bo are doing well in Oregon. And hi Kim, did you get invited to Joel’s wedding? If so, I’ll see you there.
