More Than A Porpoise, More Than A Man, A Manimal

I want a Porpoise who will laugh for no one else

Last night Tracey and I tried to score the new Pinback cd for free at a radio sponsored “listening party”. If you’re not familiar with Pinback, they are another amazing band that I highly recommend, and they are from SD, by chance. Anyway, the party thing was at a cool coffee house place that had the coffee bar in one store front, and a small stage and seats in the store front next door (where the listening was). We filled out cards w/ our names on it and put them in a box. They said they would play the new cd through once then draw some names. It was strange but neat I guess, we sat there, looking at an empty stage and listened to a cd, which was really amazing actually. The radio dudes pulled about 10 names from the box, but not ours. I’d say there was about 25 cds they had to give away and about 60-70 people there. Next they said they were going to play the cd again and if we wanted another chance to win, we had to wait until the second playing was over. This was about 9pm and Tracey was pretty tired and still getting over her sinus crap, so we left empty handed. It was a fun thing to do at least.

On Sunday Tracey and Mary did their triathlon in mission bay. Tracey was still pretty sick, but I was proud of her for going for it anyway and they both did an amazing job. I don’t think I could do something like that. They were done by 9:30am. The ladies got in the hot tub to relax, then took naps. I was going to sleep as well, but stayed up to watch the Astros take care of business. In the afternoon I did end up meeting Larson/wife and the Andys up north for some surfing. Mary even came to surf, despite running a triathlon earlier that morning. Tracey wanted to come as well, but being sick still, thought wise to stay home and rest. After the session, we cleaned up and hit that free Sanctus show in Solana Beach. We got there just as a shload of free pizza and subway was being “administered”. Solid effort.

We’re seeing Snow Patrol tomorrow night with some friends. This weekend holds an Oktoberfest event in OB about a 5 minutes walk from our place. Andys might come down for it. Can someone get me the HiGears website, is there one?

And, because it’s funny, I had to include a few quotes from Pres Bush I found the other day online. Whether you like him or not, he does have a small “issue” sometimes speaking, and it makes me laugh.
