More Than A Porpoise, More Than A Man, A Manimal

I want a Porpoise who will laugh for no one else

I ate lunch at this local sports bar by my office again today to watch NCAA. Got to see the end of the Kentucky and Texas games, no contest. Watching ball makes me kinda wish I had followed my original career path that I started in at BGSU. I wanted to be an athletic director and coach high school basketball, maybe there is still time? Just watching makes me wanna go out and work on my game, get my dribbling down, even at 28.

Hey Dad, I also liked Rocket too, but I liked how he was the main character, but the movie was not focused on him, that the story of the City of God was the real main character, it’s still going through my mind. The next big thing I’m looking forward to is A Mighty Wind and the Matrix 2. There has been a lot of crap come out lately. This weekends crop of movies does not offer much either. I though that Dream Catcher would be good. I like Jason Lee and the red head dude in the movie who gets abducted by aliens was in Band of Brothers, but the reviews have not been nice, oh well, guess we will go see Frida, not.

Looking forward to Cush tonight, although it looks like Lars and the boys will not be to SD till late tonight, so they won’t make it to Cush. I talked to Lars at 11:30am PST time and they were just leaving SF, and they are driving on Highway 1 to LA, so that will take forever. And Emily, I will watch the Oscars, but only because of your candy. Everyone have a good weekend. I’m not being very productive at work today, I think I’m getting the NCAA flu, I better go home and watch the rest of the games. Late.

I just got back from a sports bar near my work place. I ate lunch and watched some NCAA ball. I personally think Kentucky will win it all. They have defense, and that wins championships. I was sick yesterday and it sucked. I think it may have been some type of allergies, I had similar symptoms that I usually get for my allergies. I was hoping that moving to a steady climate would save me from allergies, guess not. Today I am feeling better. This coming weekend should be good. Tracey and I are meeting Larson, AStevens and Amcan in LA at a Cush show. After the show they are coming back down to SD to stay with us for the weekend. We are planning on going to Joshua Tree National Park and camp for the rest of the weekend. They may also stay a few days into next week.

I have two more weeks of a crazy work schedule, but at least I have an end in sight. I am still thinking about the movie City of God. Justin you are right, Benny was the best character. I have this indie movie mag I picked up at the theatre that has an article from the director of City of God in it, I will send it to you. It’s truly an amazing movie. I think I want to read the book now. I think you guys are going to see it again today in Ann Arbor, hope Dad likes it.

Today is the first day of spring. Glad to see spring showed up in Denver with 7ft of snow, suckers. Mary, that’s pretty funny about that dude from the Neptunes, what an idiot. I am personally sick of celebrities opening their pie holes at all on this issue. They need to do what they do best, act and entertain, and that’s it. I saw Dennis Miller on Jay Leno a few weeks back and he was going off on celebrities speaking out. He said he saw a news clipping of actor Ed Harris at an abortion/pro-choice rally speaking out against killing innocent people in Iraq, apparently Ed didn’t see the irony and contradiction in what he was saying and where he was. If you are for aborting unborn, innocent babies, then don’t talk to me about killing innocent people in Iraq. I don’t think I’m going to watch the Oscars, I don’t want to hear all the celebrities talking their smack about Bush and whatnot. Ok, enough ranting for one post.

I went to see the movie City of God last night by myself. I would have to say I did like it better than Gangs of New York, but barely. If Cameron Diaz were not in Gangs, it would be better. I keep replaying the movie in my head. It was very moving and disturbing. Just like Justin, I just keep thinking about it. I’d like to know how much of the movie was true. It said it was based on a true story. I just can’t believe the brutality of the children in the movie, yes, young kids killing other young kids, messed up.

Oh, happy St. Patrick’s day, and happy almost going to war day. This war crap is really crappy and it sucks. What also sucks is that there has been some theft around our apartment complex, including someone trying to break in to our apartment manager’s place last week. Well, they struck our place yesterday and stole my flip flops that I had sitting outside our door. How lame. They are only 4$ ones from Walmart, but it’s the principle of the matter. Someone stood in front of our door and took something that belonged to me. I guess it could have been worse, but it still pisses me off. All the laundry machines were also broken into as well. Anyway…

Didn’t do much this weekend, it rained most of it anyway. I rented Knockaround Guys, it was just ok, Walken was awesome as usual, but kinda boring. I borrowed the first season of OZ from a chick at work, but have not had a chance to watch any yet. I’ve been really getting into Boomtown lately, Sunday nights on NBC at ten. After watching Band of Brothers, I noticed that like 4 or 5 of the actors from BoB’s are in Boomtown, and it’s a pretty good show. They show the same situation (murder, hold up, etc.) from the perspective of each person at the scene of the crime. I got some more cd’s this weekend as well. Bought the new AFI and Ataris cds. I also bought the Andy Warhol Velvet Underground cd, and I really like it. I’ve been meaning to get it forever and finally did. Oh, found out last week that Cush in playing in Orange County this Friday, so we will be hitting that up. Well, back to work for me, glad the parents are home safe.
