Ok, after watching that Michael Jackson thing last night, I am of the opinion that he is sick and needs to be put in a mental institution. 44 year old men should not be having 12 year old, non related boys sleeping in his bed. Maybe that’s just me, but that’s wrong. Wow, what a freak Last night I spent some money. We got some tickets to see Juliana Theory and Something Corporate in a few weeks. I also bought the new Juliana cd, and after my first listen, not to into it, but I think it will grow on me. I also bought the All American Rejects cd and a cool punk band from Israel called Useless ID. As I have said before, Tower Records is trouble for me. Lots of listening stations with good music to listen to and great prices. I got all three of those cd’s for less than 30 bucks. Not sure yet what Tracey and I are doing for the weekend. We might try to surf some more. I didn’t get to play any bball this week, so I might try that as well. Endless possibilities. I miss you’all, have a good weekend.

“The choir is coming in tomorrow, something we are kinda nervous about. It could be really cool or it could end up sounding like some terrible U2 (rattle & hum) thing.”- from the SF59 recording journal, new album soon!

“The Lebowski, he called himself the Dude. Now, Dude, that's a name no one would self-apply where I come from. But then, there was a lot about the Dude that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.” – Sam Elliot, from the greatest movie ever

“The Neverland Ranch, it’s like a flytrap for a pedophile” – Jim Rome, in reference to Michael Jackson’s Santa Barbara ranch

The Lars cometh and the Lars goeth. It has been a crazy 2 ½ days for myself. Joel came to visit on Tuesday and we packed in a lot of good times. Let’s start from the top. Joel was maybe going to come on Monday night, but he did not. So Tracey and I went and saw Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. I have not fully decided yet what I think about it, except I saw Sam Rockwell’s butt way too much. So then Tuesday arrived and so did Joel, around 11:30am. We were both hungry so went down to OB to eat and get a look at the surf. Waves from 2 to 4 feet, clean breaks, good for beginners, like myself. So we got some Mexican, talked and enjoyed a quiet, sunny day in OB. We went back to my place and get our boards and wetsuits and headed back to OB. I think we were out for about 2 ½ hours, maybe 3. It was great to get my first real session in, although I still did not really ride a wave like a true surfer, it was great to be out there. I did get messed up many times, pearling my board and sending myself into the water hard and fast, that does not fell good. Let me just say, towards the end of the session, my arms were on fire and almost numb because they were so warn out.

We called it a day around 4:30 and headed back to get cleaned up for the big UK vs. Florida game. Joel and I headed out to Sports City in La Jolla to watch the game and to get some food and drinks. Good game, UK blew them out and we were in good spirits. We next headed down to Old Town to go to Hemingway’s to have some cigars. There is a primo spot at Hemingway’s by a fire place, and after waiting this one dude out, we got that spot, and all was right with the Universe. We headed home around 10:30, hung with Tracey a bit before she went to bed. We then tried to watch come Lebowski but both fell asleep pretty quick. It had been a long day of activity. This day is in the top three best days since we have moved out to SD, and I’d say definitely top ten days of all time for me.

I went in to work early on Wednesday so that I could take off a bit early and get another surf session in with Lars. We agreed to meet back at my apt @ 2:30. Joel spent his day studying in OB and relaxing. We first went up to Mission Beach, but the waves sucked, and the life guard kept yelling at us because we were in the “swimmers” section of the ocean, even though there was not a single swimmer out there, idiots. So we headed back to OB and had another good session with some better waves. I pearled three times, and it gave me a huge headache. Joel called me a baby. Let me also mention that surfing kills your arms, neck and back. At this moment, I feel like complete crap, like I have the flu, but it’s just sore muscles. I guess I’m out of shape a bit. We surfed till about 5ish and went home, got cleaned up and went downtown to eat dinner. We ended up going to the Field, and it was as good as always, except for this weird couple that was next to us that kept staring at us, oh well. We walked around a bit downtown and went to Urban Outfitters, then headed back home to drop Tracey off.

After chillin at home for a bit, Lars and I headed back out to the Casbah to see Switchfoot. They were cool in their own way, but they a little too much of a Campus Crusade vibe going, no offense. They are a little cheesy and over the top. I actually had to leave for the last 4 or 5 songs cause I just couldn’t handle it. There were a lot of chessy looking people there as well, probably Christians by the look of them :). By the end, I was so tired. Lars and I had an epic run of suring and chillin. It was great to have him down for a visit. Lars said he enjoyed the visit. After many hugs and tears, he left this morning, but alas, we will be going up to San Fran valentines day weekend, so we will not miss him too long. I think I will be going low key this weekend, since I basically just had my weekend in the middle of the week. I will have to do some work this weekend to make up for some lost time this week. Later.

A good Monday to you and yours. It’s good to be here. My parents have made it safely back to Ohio, so thank God. I had a pretty good weekend. I got out twice to surf, but did not do that good. Saturday we got Tracey a wet suit and hit Mission Beach. The current was too strong though and we did not spend much time out. I went out to Ocean Beach yesterday by myself and got some decent runs in. On what became my last run, I got up on a small wave for a second, then fell backwards into the wave and it took me for a ride. I was held under for a few seconds, nothing too scary, but rough enough to send me packing for the shore. Had a good amount of salt water go through me as well, but overall, it was really fun. Friday night we just stayed in and watched tv. I feel like we watched a movie, but I can’t remember. Saturday night we tried to go see Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, but it was sold out, and we were 45 minutes early. We didn’t want to wait for the 10:40 showing so we went home and got Barbershop on DVD. It was kinda funny, but not really.

On another good note, Larson is supposed to come stay with us tonight, or tomorrow morning at the latest. He is in LA right now checking some school and seeing his cousin. I have adjusted some of my working hours so that we can go out and surf all day tomorrow, so I am very excited about that. Also, I found out this weekend that Switchfoot is playing Wednesday night, so we are going to go check them out. It will cool to have Larson here during the week, it will make things go faster. I can’t believe that I will be surfing on a Tuesday, in 80 degree weather, in SoCal. What have I done to be so blessed? Beats me.
