“I wish I would have stayed asleep today” the Cure

Just done right now. Totally worn out and not feeling like working. Spent the last two evenings at the campground that Mary and Tracey are staying at in Encinitas. I’ve surfed both days right after work and my back is feeling it. We’ve been having a great time though, surfing, camp fires, football throwin, hotdogs and good convo. I had a SB Chai on the way in to work, then when I finished it, had to go back out and get another. I’ve gotta stay awake for one more night of fun. Tracey and Mary are kayaking today, then I’m supposed to meet up for some tennis after work. Then some Wahoos for dinner and then another concert (Stellastar, Killers and Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Tomorrow will be a rough day, thank God it will be Friday.

I’ve officially extended my trip back to BG next week. I got two extra days. I just had too much packed into the weekend because of Lars, now I get an extra day or so with my fam and will get down to Cincinnati for a day. I’m pretty excited about that. Things have gotten to super stress level at work and this break will be nice. Hey Dad, maybe we could even go to Akron on Sunday? Just an idea. And maybe we could hit Ann Arbor on Tuesday before I leave.

I had an interview yesterday at this tech placement agency. They have a contract job up in Carlsbad that they’re trying to get for me. I’ve registered with so many job agencies, I can’t keep them straight. I may have a phone interview with the actual client tomorrow. It would be a 6-12 month contract, so a little more stability, but a bad commute. It may finally be time for me to pay the piper of Cali traffic. I’ve been lucky so far, only a 10 minute commute when I was at Scantron, and around 20 minutes right now. And even better was my 0 minute commute when I was laid off. Anyway, this commute talk is boring me, and I’m sure you as well. I’ll report tonight’s activities tomorrow if I get a chance.

Whirlwind. The crazy summer is off and running. You’ve already heard about my Mexico trip. Now Mary is in the house and we are going full-tilt. Helped some friends paint their new house Saturday morning, then Mary showed around 1pm. We chilled, took naps and then headed to a festival in Solana Beach (similar to a Black Swamp type deal in BG) and saw a few bands, mainly Phantom Planet, who I thought were solid. We came home and watched Dickie Roberts, whatever on that. Yesterday was full of activity and some disappointments. We went surfing, and that was pretty fun, Mary got out there and did pretty good, despite conditions. It was more windy yesterday than I’ve ever seen in SD since we moved here. The sun was out for a bit, but quickly went away, and the wind was unbearable. We left early and went to Hodads to eat. Since the sun was not out, we decided to try and see a Padres game, but it was sold out. We shopped a bit downtown then chilled at home the rest of the afternoon. I watched the Lakers lose, that felt good, then we went and saw the Shins play. It was a refreshing concert. They almost sounded better in concert than on cd, great voice and good humor between songs, we all really liked them. I came home and watched the last Sopranos on tape. Tonight we plan to take Mary to the W hotel for a drink (they have a cool outdoor sand bar, very trendy, and fun to make fun of) and then to Little Italy for Filipis pizza. After that we plan to go see our friends new puppy.

Tuesday and Wednesday Mary and Tracey will be in Encinitas camping. I’ll join them in the evenings after work for a small surf session, dinner and a camp fire. Last night we also to go to another show on Thursday night, Stellastar, the Killers and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. We all love the first two bands, and the Yeahs will be entertaining for a bit at least. I wish I could have been there for Lars party. I really look forward to being back next weekend in BG to reunite with good friends and family. I was also pleasantly surprised last week when I discovered that another Igor works at my company. I count it a blessing I got to even work with one, which, for most people, would never happen their entire life, but I get two. I’m truly blessed. Seriously, have a great week. I’ll see some of you in 10 to 12 days, depending on who you are.
