Congrats Mom on the big quilt win! I was going to call gramps this weekend, I guess I’ll have to wait. I’m finishing up my first week at WOTE and it feels good to get to Friday. My head is overloaded on new info, but I’m excited and liking things so far. I’ve gotten four free lunches, and the orientation process has been very helpful and useful. It’s too early to judge fully, but I think I’m going to really like this job. Also, my new job is two exits down from the San Marcos Frys store, so that may be trouble for me. We have some going away activities this weekend for our friend Des. It will be fun but sad.

I got out last night and surfed in OB after work. The waves are usually not as good in the late evening, but I like being in the water when the sun sets. It’s still unreal to me, especially when I’m out in the water, that I’m really here. We just recently had our two year anniversary of moving out here. I won’t bore you with the usual “How lucky am I!” or “Life is so good” crap that you’ve heard enough of. I think you’ve got that message by now, dear reader.

We’ve got one more week of peacefulness until a storm of visitors embark on us. I think we have more days of visitors than not in September. It will be exhausting, but super fun and I’m looking forward to all of it, except for how broke we will be when it’s all said in done. But who cares, I’d rather be broke and have fun with good people than have money and nothing/no one to spend with. Whatever. For those venturing our way this September, it’s prolly the best month to be here. It’s about the best weather, temp wise, and most tourists have left.

Another perk of my new job (It’s a small company, approx 20 employees) is that the owners have season tics to the Padres, but hardly every go. So I already got tics to this Sundays game. They are really good seats on the first base side, about 17 rows from the field. I got 41/2 hrs till the weekend, hope yours is good.

Note to Jay-you need to burn us a couple 3 cool mixes for our vegas run, maybe more even. I’ll put them on my ipod for the drive out.

Quick blog here. Two days at the new job, things are solid so far. It's mostly orientation stuff, but I like it so far. I have a mentor at my new job named Greg. He's a 20 yr "vet" of tech writing and even worked at Apple in the 90s, he's pretty cool and drives a mini. The new place has free soda, so that's always a bonus, and I get 3 free lunches this week, always a good sign. We'll see how it goes when I start doing some actual work. I get to learn a new documentation method based on XML, so I'm kinda excited about that. All the people seem really nice and positive so far. Good things all the way around.

Dad, we did get your England box, sorry we didn't mention it earlier. I like the shirt, thanks! Also, there is another Fry's one exit from my new job. It's in San Marcos and a co-worker told me it's a better store than the other one in SD.

As Tracey mentioned, we hit a free Lassie Foundation show on Monday in the OC. The venue was really cool and LF rocked it. Played all new stuff, except Promis Ring, and it's in a more new wave veign, mixed with the old Lassie feel. We liked it. LF just put out some comp of 17 of their songs, including two new ones, so I picked that up for 10 bucks. And Wayne gave me some free stickers, good guy. Well, I getta get going to my 3rd day of work. Tonight we hit some Lobster tacos and then an 80s cover band in PB.
